FilmCardz is Artbox's clever oddball: not paper, but clear acetate "film cels" set into printed cardboard frames so you read them from either side, mimicking a strip of movie film. The 72-card base run pulls stills straight from three Dragon Ball Z movies — Lord Slug (1-24), Cooler's Revenge (25-48), and The Return of Cooler (49-72) — each card captioned with a line of dialogue or action like "They must deflect the asteroid!" Boxes seeded Rare (R1-R6) and Ultra-Rare (UR1-UR3) chase cels, plus the Foil Film Lenticular inserts. It's a quiet set most DBZ collectors skip, which is exactly why a complete clear-cel run still turns heads on the shelf.
- 1Cards are transparent acetate cels in a printed cardboard frame — viewable from both sides, so they need double-sided storage sheets.
- 2Base set is 72 cards split evenly across three movies; our 97-card checklist folds in the chase and promo cards.
- 3Boxes carried Rare (R1-R6), Ultra-Rare (UR1-UR3), and Foil Film Lenticular (Pm) inserts; tin exclusives (T1-T2) round out the chase.
These are transparent acetate cels seated in a cardboard frame, so the usual centering metric applies to the frame, not the art. Watch the acetate for surface scuffs, fingerprints, and edge lift where the cel meets the border — that, not centering, is what knocks grades down. They belong in double-sided sleeves since both faces show.
